PHDA 03 Population Health and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

This is a practical, hands-on course that focuses on the relationship between place and health. Offered through University of Victoria, Continuing Studies and Population Data BC, it is designed to provide the skills and knowledge required to use a wide range of spatial data and analysis methods using ArcGIS.

Topics include:

  • Basic concepts of spatial data as they apply to health data and population health applications.
  • Major uses of GIS in population health.
  • Use of GIS to map health data.
  • Application of spatial techniques to analyze health data.
  • Interpretation of spatial approaches and methodology in population health.
