Another major grant for the CRDCN

We are pleased to announce that the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) has awarded $5.9 million to the CRDCN over five years, 2017-2022, from its Major Science Initiatives Fund. For more details, read the news release.

Postdoc opportunity

A full-time Post-doctoral fellowship for 2017-2018, with a possible extension to 2018-19, is available as part of the Productivity Partnership to develop and apply disclosure avoidance methods appropriate for complex economic microdata, in particular the use of synthetic data generation applied to longitudinal businesses, establishments, and their employees. The postdoc will work at the Centre for Data Development and Economic Research (CDER) at Statistics Canada, in Ottawa, and will be jointly supervised by Benoit Dostie (HEC), Lars Vilhuber (Cornell University) and Danny Leung (Statistics Canada). Pilot project in the RDCs: call for proposals

Together with the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), Statistics Canada is launching a pilot project that will provide access to the 2006 Census linked to the Discharge Abstract Database (DAD) for 2006/07 - 2008/09. Interested researchers are invited to submit a proposals by January 31, 2017. More details about the pilot and on how to submit a proposal are available here.

In the news: second Northern site set to open soon

A new branch of the BCI RDC will open its doors in a few months at the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George. This new facility will be the second most northern site in the Network after Yellowknife's. In this interview to the Prince George Citizen, Academic Director Cindy Hardy explains the benefits to Northern researchers of having access to a data facilty nearby.

Renewed funding for the Network

We are pleased to announce that SSHRC and CIHR have renewed their financial support to the Network until 2021 by awarding a directed grant of $14.5M. The announcement was made this morning in Saguenay by the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue. Read the news release.

Request for proposals: High Skill Good Jobs

The Peel Halton Local Employment Planning Council invites proposals for its High Skill Good Jobs research project. The Council wishes to document the high skill trend that characterised Peel-Halton labour market between 2009 and 2014.
