Toronto RDC Data Day - Stories Data Tell

The Toronto RDC invites you to its first Data Day which will be held in the Robarts Library on April 27. The program includes a keynote address by Dr. Valerie Tarasuk on food insecurity in Canada, and a plenary discussion moderated by Dr. Cameron Crawford at the end of the day. Registration is free but mandatory.

Canadian Poverty Reducation Strategy : call for nominations

To support the development and implementation of its Poverty Reduction Strategy, the federal Government is creating a Ministerial Advisory Committee on Poverty. Its members will act as a sounding board and will provide advice to the Minister on a range of poverty-related issues. Interested individuals who have relevant expertise and experience in this area are invited to submit their application by March 13. For more details about the mandate and the selection criteria, refer to the call for nominations. A public consultation is also ongoing until June.

Job opportunity as analyst in a RDC

Statistics Canada is looking for qualified candidates to staff part-time and full-time determinate positions as analysts in various RDCs, with the possibility of indeterminate positions. Locations with potential positions include Quebec City, Toronto, Saskatoon, Calgary, and Vancouver. A pool of qualified candidates will also be established. Call for Panel Proposals: Celebrating 150 Years of Achievements

The Canadian Science Policy Centre is inviting panel proposals for the 2017 Canadian Science Policy Conference which will be held in Ottawa, next November. To mark Canada’s 150th anniversary, this year's conference will explore the achievements of science technology and innovation in the past 150 years, and discuss how we should align our policies to achieve greater prosperity in the next 50 years. Job opportunity

The Applied Public Health Chair in Urban Interventions and Population Health is looking for a Coordinator to supervise its INTERACT research project which aims to evaluate several major urban interventions in four Canadian cities in terms of the impact on population health and health inequalities impact. The project will recruit four new cohorts, measure people with wearable sensor devices, and build a comprehensive Geographic Information System for continuous tracking of changes to the urban form. Postdoc opportunity

A full-time Post-doctoral fellowship for 2017-2018, with a possible extension to 2018-19, is available as part of the Productivity Partnership to develop and apply disclosure avoidance methods appropriate for complex economic microdata, in particular the use of synthetic data generation applied to longitudinal businesses, establishments, and their employees. The postdoc will work at the Centre for Data Development and Economic Research (CDER) at Statistics Canada, in Ottawa, and will be jointly supervised by Benoit Dostie (HEC), Lars Vilhuber (Cornell University) and Danny Leung (Statistics Canada).
