Call for student papers: 2019 CPS meeting

The Canadian Population Society (CPS) invites students to submit papers to its regular annual meeting or its Graduate Development Conference which will be held next June as part of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences in Vancouver. Papers accepted to either are eligible to be considered for the CPS Student Paper Competition, which rewards the best paper with a $500 prize. The deadline to submit an abstract is January 31. Call for proposals: gender equality and gender-based violence

Status of Women Canada has launched a call for proposals for knowledge synthesis or research on the economic, political, educational, health or justice aspects of gender equality in Canada, as well as gender-based violence, including the prevention of violence, support to survivors and families, and the promotion of responsive justice systems. The maximum project funding is $1 million, and the submission deadline has been extended to February 18, 2019. Please consult the Call for Proposals for more information.

Business Data Science Challenge

Statistics Canada invites graduate students and senior undergraduate students in economics, data science, computer science, mathematics and statistics to apply to its Business Data Science Challenge. The challenge is to apply data analytics or analysis techniques to increase our understanding of the state of entry and exit in the Canadian economy. Of particular interest are methods for producing more timely estimates for exits, methods for identifying and accounting for aberrant observations such as leverage points or outliers, and methods for incorporating unclassified firms into analysis. The deadline for submission is March 31st, 2019. Read all details and conditions here.
