Statistics Canada,100 years and counting: Still time to register

The Association for Canadian Studies and the Canadian Institute for Identities and Migration, in collaboration with Statistics Canada and the Vanier Institute of the Family, invite you to attend the conference marking Statistics Canada 100th anniversary, on December 6 & 7, 2018 at the Delta Hotel in Ottawa. The program will shed light on how Canada’s population has evolved over the last 100 years and on the critical contribution made by the country’s national statistical agency in measuring its evolution; current and future challenges will also be discussed. Call for proposals: North American Data Documentation Initiative Conference 2019

Aimed at individuals working in and around data and metadata, NADDI 2019 seeks submissions that highlight the use of DDI and other metadata standards within research projects, official statistics, survey operations, academic libraries, and data archives. The theme this year is on the benefits of using metadata to drive efficiencies in a research data lifecycle, as well as promotes subsequent re-use of end data products, especially those generated by federal and national statistical agencies. The conference will be held next April, in Ottawa. The deadline to submit a proposal is January 7, 2019.

Job opportunity with the CRDCN: Senior Research Computing Specialist

We are  seeking a Senior Research Computing Specialist to join the system administration and user support team. Gender equality or gender-based violence: call for proposals

Status of Women Canada (SWC) informs researchers that they will seek proposals for knowledge synthesis and/or research related to gender equality or gender-based violence in Canada later this fall. Call for proposals: Education and skills

The Mowat Centre and The Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario invites research proposals to take part in their Research Initiative on Education and Skills (RIES), an innovative knowledge infrastructure providing researchers and policymakers access to data from the Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC), the Longitudinal and International Survey of Adults (LISA), and LISA’s linkages to administrative data. They are seeking projects regarding the state of skills and skills development in Canada to make fresh contributions to policy research and policy development within three areas of focus: equity; the future of work; and what skills matter. An honorarium will be paid to successful applicants.
