Call for Papers: Using the 2012 Aboriginal Peoples Survey

Aboriginal Policy Studies journal, in partnership with Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada, invites articles for a special issue dedicated to research using data from the 2012 Aboriginal Peoples Survey, to be released in winter 2016. While all sorts of research is encouraged, special interest is in analyses of education and employment data or topics that relate to the economic engagement of Aboriginal people in Canada. The deadline to submit an article is August 15.

Call for Abstract: Dealing with Aboriginal issues through Applied Sociology

As part of the Canadian Sociological Association annual meeting, Linda Gerber is organizing an applied sociology session on issues faced by Aboriginal peoples, including but not limited to the areas of health, family, education, employment, substance abuse, governance, arrest and incarceration, racism and discrimination. Research may involve collaboration with Aboriginal communities or organizations or may be based on independent data collection or on surveys conducted by Statistics Canada. The underlying goal is to inform public policy. The deadline to submit a proposal is February 2.
