Calls for Proposals

Statistics Canada is inviting research proposals for two pilot projects that will help develop and test confidentiality vetting rules to enable broad access to two large administrative datasets in the RDCs. The first project pertains to Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Permanent Resident Landing files and the deadline is October 28. The second project pertains to the roll-out of the Longitudinal Administrative Databank (LAD) in the RDCs and the deadline is October 5.

The Muslim Question in Canada

Congratulations to Abdie Kazemipur, author of The Muslim Question in Canada: A Story of Segmented Integration (UBC Press, 2014), who has been selected by the Canadian Sociological Association as the 2015 recipient of the John Porter Tradition of Excellence Book Award. In addition to receiving the award at a special ceremony on June 3, 2015, Abdie will be a keynote speaker at the CSA's 2016 annual meeting.

Call for Proposals: National Metropolis Conference

The 2015 National Metropolis Conference invites submissions for its 17th annual conference “Broadening the Conversation: Policy and Practice in Immigration, Settlement and Diversity” to be held in Toronto on March 26 to 28. The workshops should aim to facilitate dialogue and exchange between researchers, government, and community/private sector partners and explore issues that are national in scope or that can be compared across the provinces and territories. The new deadline to submit proposals is December 1.
