Microdata Access Portal

On January 29th, the Microdata Access Portal (MAP) is slated to launch. It will replace the SSHRC portal which is currently used as the submission avenue for RDC proposals. At the same time, the way that RDC applications are assessed is also changing. A summary of the changes follows:

Canada Housing Statistics Pilot - New Housing Data

The Canadian Housing Statistics Program is undertaking a pilot project to explore the value of extending access to the new housing statistics data to all RDC users.

The deadline for project submissions is September 30th. Note that submissions are NOT MADE THROUGH THE SSHRC PORTAL. Please consult the call for details about how to submit your proposal.

The dataset for the pilot is a census of all owners of residential properties in three provinces (BC, Ontario & Nova Scotia).

CRDCN National Policy Challenge: the winners of the 2018-19 competition

We are pleased to announce that Karen Ugarte Bravo is the grand winner of the very first CRDCN National Policy Challenge for her analysis of the impact of mandatory universal pharmaceutical insurance on prescription opioid use. Ramsha Jaweed who investigated the economic outcomes of privately sponsored married female refugees, and Rafael Silva Ramirez and Dominic Gagnon who examined the disability-adjusted life expectancy of Aboriginal Canadians won the second and third prize respectively. Congratulations as well to the other finalists: all of them had previously been carefully chosen by our selection committee for the quality of their projects among over 40 proposals received at the preliminary stage. The five-member jury was impressed by the high quality of the research results and the policy implications presented to them yesterday which made their mandate all the more difficult to carry out. The CRDCN feels privileged to support such highly gifted young researchers and is thrilled by the outcome of this first competition organized in partnership with SAS Canada and Statistics Canada. We look forward to hosting another Challenge in 2019-20, the details of which will be announced shortly.
