International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples

Every year on August 9, the world celebrates Indigenous Peoples under the aegis of the UN. This year is devoted to the right to education. Many researchers use our data to better understand the situation of First Nations in Canada, and offer insightful recommendations. To mark this day, we invite you to read the publications that ensue, including about the important role that education plays.

Future of fundamental research funding in Canada

On June 13, 2016, the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science launched an independent review of federal funding for fundamental science. The review will assess the program machinery that is currently in place to support science and scientists. A final report will be released by the end of 2016. Led by Dr. David Naylor, the panel invites the research community as well as any Canadians interested in participating, to share views, ideas and comments through this online form. The deadline to participate is September 30.
