Special Student competition

The Population Change and Lifecourse Strategic Knowledge is sponsoring a conference on 19-20 March (pdf) in Ottawa and wish to invite up to twenty students to attend this event. Travel and accommodation will be covered by the Cluster. Interested students should send a cover letter explaining interests, with a curriculum vitae and a letter of support from a faculty Cluster member, to Rod Beaujot (with cc to Zenaida Ravanera) by 30 November 2014. The following are relevant in choosing student members to invite:

  1. Research interest in the topics underlying the conference and the Cluster thematic areas: Aging and paid work, Caregiving and social participation, Health over the life course, Families, Immigrants and migrants, Aging, lifelong learning and life course flexibility.
  2. Research and career interests that overlap with those of federal partners of the Cluster: Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Health Canada, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, Policy Horizons Canada, Public Health Agency of Canada, and Statistics Canada.
  3. Willingness to present a poster. This poster may be similar to a presentation or poster from an international or national conference for which you received Cluster funding. Please include a one page abstract if you would like to make a poster presentation in the March 19-20 Cluster Conference.
  4. Involvement as a research assistant in one of the syntheses that will be presented at the Conference (see attached tentative program). 

In your cover letter please specify how your current research and anticipated career would benefit from participation at this conference.
